The Results Are In! Find Out How These Popular Scrub Brands Really Wash and Wear

Uniform Advantage carries huge in-stock inventories of popular scrub brands and is among one of the very few retailers in the industry who designs and manufactures its own exclusive collections. From time-to-time, our customers will say, “We wear [insert brand name] right now, but we are really interested in this Butter-Soft style. Is your private label product really comparable to [insert brand name]? How do they hold up?”

Great question! We think we know the answer, but we need proof. A demonstration. A test! Let the (un)official wash test competition begin!

We are not a testing laboratory, but we do know how to use a washer and dryer, so we are trying to answer the quality and durability question by treating these scrub tops like you would if you owned them. Wash. Dry. Wear. Repeat each week.

The parameters of the test were simple: wash and dry scrub tops 60 times, in the same wash and dry cycles, and see what happens.

Side conversation: Why 60 wash cycles? Commercial laundry facilities use 60 wash cycles as the benchmark for durability. While understanding the laundering process is different for commercial laundry versus washing and drying at home, we still felt we should stick with an established industry standard. We also felt 60 washes was a solid representation of the life-cycle of your scrub top. In theory, this mimics a scenario where you wash this top once per week, and it would look like this in a little over a year.

We chose to compare two very popular brands and styles – Butter-Soft Stretch BSS362 and Cherokee Core Stretch CK630 because they are similar in so many ways – see table below.

Sure, there is a little puckering around the seams, the color is not as bright as when it arrived, but it was what we DIDN’T see that impressed us.

  • No seams unraveling
  • Literally wash-and-wear as advertised
  • Minimal shrinking in width and length

Our (un)official conclusion? Both brands give you plenty of bang for your buck. We see this as a big win for our private label brand, considering Cherokee is a well-established household name!

We were motivated to wash more scrub tops after this test, so stay tuned for more results in a future post. Collections include:
