Winnie the Pooh, in theatres and scrubs near you!

Today marks the first time we have seen Winnie the Pooh on the big screen since 2005 when he starred in Pooh’s Heffalump Movie. Six years later we find ourselves face to face again with the friendly cast animals and a young Christopher Robin. Disney’s Winnie the Pooh hits theaters today, July 15th, and tells the story of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Eeyore, Kange and Roo on an adventure to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit.

As children, we grew up with the stories and adventures of Winnie the Pooh and company, and kids today still revel in Disney’s remarkable stories of friendship. And at UA, we have Tooniform Scrubs that celebrate Winnie the Pooh, his friends, and the smiles they bring to our faces. So while we don’t expect you to run out after work to catch the first screening of this classic film, we do expect these Winnie the Pooh scrub tops to be a big hit at the office!

It’s Pink Day!

While there is no historical reference out there as to why June 23rd is recognized as National Pink Day or where it came from, I do know that I love the color pink and any excuse to wear pink (like a National Day) is fine by me! So today, let out the fun, girlie side of you by sporting the color pink to work.  I know I will be.

At UA, we are also loving all things pink! Like…these pink scrubs :)

But we love more than just pink scrubs.  Here are a list of some pink things we can’t live without!

-          Pink peonies. Can someone say weddings!?

-          Breast Cancer Ribbons. Pink for a good cause.

-          Elvis’ pink Cadillac he gave his mom. Can I have one?

-          Pink Lemonade. I’d like to see more pink lemonade at the neighborhood lemonade stands. Just a thought…

-          Pink diamonds. They exist. Just ask J Lo.

-          A pink steak. Cooked medium, please.

-          Cotton Candy. Pink tastes the best…there’s blue too, and purple, and yellow. Yumm.

-          Pink. The name. The singer.

-          Bubble gum. Bazzooooookaaaaaa! But I suggest using sparingly…may cause molar soreness due to constant chewing.

-          Nail polish. I may or may not have hot pink on my toes right now!

Leave us a note and tell us what kind of pink things you love!

Just a little reminder that Father’s Day is right around the corner! If you’re like me, you’ve already ran out of ideas for Father’s Day gifts over the years. He has every electronic gadget out there, he’s already playing golf on Sunday with his buds, breakfast in bed is getting old, so what now? Ever thought about getting him a new set of scrubs? To us, it’s a perfect idea! He’s always going to need them, he will use them every day, they are easy to wash, and you don’t have to break the bank to get them!

We have men’s scrubs from many different brands including our own line of UA Scrubs, Cherokee, Landau and Fashion Seal, so choices are endless when it comes to getting your Father’s Day gift this year. Oh, and a UA gift card or a new stethoscope won’t hurt either!

June is…National Dairy Month!

Last week I learned something new about the Month of June.  June is more than just a month where hot flashes creep up more frequently, your air conditioning bill jumps two fold, the beach gets overcrowded, and hurricane season starts.  With the bad comes the good, and in June there’s also Father’s Day, the last days of school, and—to my new-found pleasure—it’s National Dairy Month!  (Apparently June has been recognized as Dairy month since the 1937, but who’s counting.)

Because it’s National Dairy Month, we thought we’d help spread awareness on the health benefits of calcium found in many dairy products…and share with you all some of our favorite dairy products.

The Facts:

According to the Food and Nutrition Board, here are the recommended daily calcium intakes for men and women ages 14 – 70:

14 – 18

1,300 mg

1,300 mg

19 – 50

1,000 mg

1,000 mg

51 – 70

1,000 mg

1,200 mg

Where can we get calcium?  It’s actually more prevalent than I ever thought!  Calcium can be found naturally in some foods, added as a supplement to other foods, or in dietary supplements.  Here are some examples of common sources of calcium:

-          Dairy products (specifically lower-fat dairy products like 2% or skim)

  • Yogurt
  • Milk
  • Cheese

-          Non-dairy

  • Salmon
  • Spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Orange juice with calcium
  • Tofu

In addition to helping prevent osteoporosis later on in life, proper calcium intake has several other health benefits ranging from helping to reduce cardiovascular disease, lower blood pressure levels, manage weight and more.

What are our favorite dairy products?

I asked several people around the office what their favorite dairy products are and two answers stood out the most:

  1. Ice cream
  2. Any kind of cheese

Pretty general, but maybe we all love all sorts of ice cream and all sorts of cheese, and well, all sorts dairy!

How does UA get their calcium intake?  Unconventionally appropriate—the cows in our prints.  Check out this classic UA print:

Honoring Memorial Day

On the last Monday in May, people all across the country gather together to honor U.S. soldiers who have died while in military service. Known as Memorial Day, this US federal holiday began as a day of remembrance after the Civil War. But over time, Memorial Day has evolved and become more of an occasion for Americans to express their appreciation and memory to those who have died in all wars.

People observe Memorial Day in various fashions. Some visit memorials or cemeteries, while others get together with family for a long weekend of beach activities, barbeques and fireworks. Some people decorate their lawns, while others dress up in red, white and blue attire. At Uniform Advantage, we may not be able to supply you with American flags to line your driveway, but we do have scrubs in red, white and blue that you can wear to showcase your American pride!

So, on this day of remembrance, let’s honor those who have died for our Country. And if you’re at work this coming Monday (May 30th), we think a pair of scrubs in red, white and blue will be perfectly appropriate!  Here are a couple suggestions…
